Sculpting

The body sculpt for Chocolate Retriever’s main character, Gen, was based on mechanicals by Paige Meakin and sculpted in Chavant Clay over a period of a couple weeks. The head, hair, and hands were sculpted separately so they could be molded and cast in different materials.

Mold Making

After the body sculpt was finalized, the limbs and head were detached so they could be molded in plaster and silicone. The body parts were then sprayed with Crystal Clear to seal them and get them ready for the clay-up process. The torso was molded in a two-part plaster mold and cast in foam because it would be covered by the costume, while the limbs and head were molded up in silicone molds and injected with Plasticine Clay by Paige Meakin and Mary Mihalko.
