Chocolate Retriever Props

Shrunken Set

The giant pill bottle started as a Chavant sculpt and was molded in silicone and cast in plastic to get the general shape. I delineated the halfway mark and cut the bottle in half so that it could be pulled on the Vacuum Former in PETG plastic to achieve the translucent look. The cap of the pill bottle was painted, and then the two halves got seamed together after adding Plasticine pills. To maintain the see-through look of the bottle, an orange lighting gel was used to color the plastic.

For the large Beaux head, laser cut files were made with space for teeth and a bolt so the jaw could hinge by Kieran Miller and cut in Masonite. I then painted the edges of the laser cuts to hide any of the masonite from showing during animation, attached the teeth to the wire, and zapped them to the masonite jaws. Clay was added to make the dog three-dimensional and ready for animation by Paige Meakin.

Stomach Set

Props for the Stomach Set for Chocolate Retriever were all made out of plasticine clay to transport the viewer and Gen into the gooey and unknown world of Beaux’s stomach. Each prop was scaled based on the placement in the stomach and in relation to the puppet to create a forced perspective and show just how small Gen has shrunk.
